Our Costco Carnivore Diet Shopping List (Family of 6)

As a family of six eating a mostly keto-carnivore diet, Costco is our go-to for the majority of our food options.

Costco is not only a great place to buy in bulk, but they also have a huge variety of high-quality meats, low-carb snacks, and great deals.

Sure, feeding our family Top Ramen and Kraft Mac-n-Cheese would cost a lot less, in the short term. And frankly, our kids would love that- up to a point!

However, our goal as a family is to clean up our eating, focus on animal products, and cut way down on processed foods and sugars.

While Daniel and I eat primarily Carnivore, our four kids eat a more keto-based diet, and have occasional carbs and non-animal food products.

So; here’s our Costco carnivore diet shopping list for our family of 6.

01. Ground Beef

Costco has great grass fed beef options; however, we buy the 5 pound Kirkland brand to say a few dollars. When I get home, I portion the pack into three sections and freeze them.

You can find a bunch of ground beef recipes here.

02. Brisket

If you’re interested in following a carnivore or keto diet, we highly recommend learning how to cook or smoke a brisket! Look for our brisket recipe (posting soon!) for a delicious smoked brisket, and plenty of leftover brisket recipes as well.

While an entire brisket might seem like a lot, $4-$5 per pound for beef is one of the best options for feeding a large family.

03. Teton Beef Hot Dogs

I could literally eat these every day. Some weeks, I do! These hot dogs are 100% beef and 100% delicious.

04. Hamburger Patties

We go for the Angus Ground Beef Chuck patties as they have a slightly higher fat content than the other options. These are so good on their own or with a pat of butter!

05. Wild Caught Shrimp and/or Salmon

We alternate between getting the wild caught shrimp and salmon.

06. Eggs

Thanks to a brave fox, we lost all our chickens this last summer. So now we’re are back to buying eggs until we get a new flock!

Budge allowing, I pick up the organic Kirkland eggs in a 24 pack. However, if I’m looking to save some money, I will get the big 5 dozen box of USDA Grade A eggs.

07. Butter

We go through a lot of butter- not just in cooking, but also as a snack. I love the Kirkland Grass-Fed salted butter.

08. Chicken Thighs

Thanks to their higher fat content, chicken thighs or wings are a better option to include in your carnivore diet shopping list than chicken breast.

I love how these come packaged in smaller portions.

09. Bacon

I don’t know many people who do carnivore without bacon! The Kirkland brand bacon is a good price point for how many pounds you get- 4 1lb packages.

10. Chicken Sausages

We don’t eat a ton of chicken, but these are great for occasional snacks or meals

11. Chicken Breakfast Sausages

These breakfast sausages make for a really quick and super delicious breakfast.

12. Heavy Whipping Cream

Heavy whipped cream is a great “dessert” when you’re craving something sweet.

13. Sour Cream

Love this sour cream on my carnivore tacos.

14. Cheese

Costco has a ton of cheese options; we love the aged cheddar from Kerrygold as an alternative to string cheese for our kids.

We also buy the Kirkland Parmesean Reggiano.

15. Beef Sticks

These Greenridge beef sticks are a favorite of the whole family, and the best snacks for road trips!

16. Pork Tenderloin

The Swift brand pork loin is a great budget meat item from Costco. We cut it into thirds and freeze the portions.

17. Cream Cheese

Cream cheese is very important for making our Cream Pops!

High Protein, Kid Friendly Options

While these aren’t completely carnivore, I wanted to mention a few items I buy at Costco as part of my carnivore shopping list, specifically for our kids. They’re all high quality protein and low sugar.

18. Greek Yogurt

15 grams of protein is pretty great for a quick kid-friendly snack.

19. Collagen Protein

There are a few too many ingredients in this protein for my liking, but its a budget-friendly option and our kids enjoy it in their berry shakes.

20. Wilde Buffalo Chips

If your Costco has these (ours currently does not!), these are a delicious protein snack. They do have some ingredients that are not carnivore (including seed oils), but they are keto-friendly and mad, they are good! They’re made with chicken breast and egg whites. You can also find them at Walmart and on Amazon.

Costco is known for offering competitive pricing, and this is especially true when it comes to meat. When buying in bulk, you’re also setting yourself up for meal prep success.

I hope this carnivore diet shopping list helps you get started!
